Winter has arrived in earnest here in the Wasatch Back, with lots of snowfall last week and more expected this week! Nothing brings our mountains to life quite like a good winter storm, and this year it has come just in time for the holiday season.

We are looking forward to a "more normal" 2021-2022 winter season, including the return of many of our favorite events. This newsletter includes details about all the great fun to be had in and around town during the coming weeks!

MAIN STREET PARK CITY
All Winter | Historic Main St | Park City
Taking a stroll on Main Street during the holiday season is a "can't miss" occasion for visitors and residents alike. Lights, decorations, and holiday spirit abound!

HORSE-DRAWN CARRIAGE RIDES
Jordanelle State Park | Now - Jan 30
Mayflower Exit | Hwy 40 | Heber City

Jordanelle State Park, in cooperation with Rocky Mountain Outfitters, is now offering horse-drawn carriage rides through snowy fields of illuminated trees. Group and private 25 minute rides are available. Reservations are required.

CHRISTMAS IN COLOR

Drive through millions of lights perfectly synchronized to holiday music you’ll hear right through your radio. Drive by giant candy canes, snowmen, arched pathways, and more. Get tickets here.

LUMINARIA
Through January 1 | Ashton Gardens | Lehi
Experience the light of Luminaria, a holiday tradition so remarkable, it was featured on ABC’s popular "Great Christmas Light Fight: Season 8 Heavyweight Edition!" Luminaria is an enchanting walk through Ashton Gardens that transports you to another world with all of the sights, smells, sounds, and tastes of the holidays. A one-way path guides you past a light and music show with 6,500 programmable luminaries blanketing a hill, with each luminary a pixel in a moving picture of flying reindeer, Ombre waves, and other signs of the season. OGDEN'S CHRISTMAS VILLAGE
Through January 1 | Downtown Ogden | 353 E 25th Street
Ogden's Christmas Village lights up downtown Ogden and offers incredible replicas of some of Ogden's most iconic historic buildings all decked out for the holidays. The event is free for all visitors. Lights are turned on daily at 5:00 pm until midnight. Info here.

LUMAZE OUTDOOR LIGHTS FESTIVAL
Through January 2 | Utah State Fairground | Salt Lake City
Lumaze transforms the Utah State Fairpark into a “Fairytale Christmas” with a million twinkling lights, creating a wonderland where the whole family will be amazed. This event offers seasonal music, food, and activities that will entertain all ages. Highlights include larger-than-life illuminated displays, a candy cane light tunnel, festive music and treats, a covered Kids’ Zone with Gingerbread Castle Playground, magical glowing swings, and beautiful backdrops to create your perfect holiday photo. TEMPLE SQUARE

Temple Square in Salt Lake City will be open to the public this Christmas season with displays and limited lights. Construction and the COVID-19 pandemic have modified some of the plans for this year’s celebration, but families are invited to walk around parts of the grounds and experience an animated nativity in the Salt Lake Tabernacle. OUTDOOR WINTER MOVIE NIGHTS

Bundle up and enjoy complimentary movie nights outside in the Forum in Canyons Village at Park City Mountain Resort. Activities and treats begin at 4:00 pm, with films beginning between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm.

CLYDESDALE WAGON RIDES

SANTA'S MAILBOX
Corner of Main St & Heber Ave | Park City

Park City has made special arrangements for Main Street to be a drop-off site for letters to Santa Claus! Don't forget to drop off your letters to Santa's Mailbox located at the Depot, on the corner of Main Street & Heber Ave. by December 24th to make sure all the wishes get to the North Pole in time!

Head out to Park City Resort this winter for Silver Sky Nights with live music and spectacular fireworks. Each event will begin at 4:00 pm, with fireworks starting at varying times. Remember to secure your pooches if the sound scares them!

SANTA CLAUS VISITS

December 24 | Deer Valley® Resort Snow Park Lodge

Santa will be visiting guests in the Snow Park Lodge area from 9:00 am to 11:00 am and from noon to 1:30 pm in the Silver Lake Lodge area. Guests and their children are invited to bring a camera and take their picture with Santa.

TORCHLIGHT PARADE
Deer Valley® Resort | December 30

The Torchlight Parade will be held at approximately 6:00 pm (dusk) on December 30th with skiers coming down Big Stick ski run on Bald Eagle Mountain, behind Snow Park Lodge. Complimentary hot chocolate, cider, and cookies will be served on the Snow Park Plaza from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
