Hello Folks,

I am acutely aware that many of you are in far more dire circumstances than we are here in Park City, so please know you are in my thoughts. Here, our lives are disrupted, but we can still get in the great outdoors, which is what most of us spend most of our lives doing anyway. I am seeing a sense of calm, and a desire to help those less fortunate, that makes me proud to be part of our community.

If there is anything at all I can do to help in any way, please do reach out.

Stay Safe.

During this time of uncertainty relative to the COVID-19 virus, our care and concern focuses on you, your family and loved ones, and especially the elderly and immunocompromised. Nothing is more precious than our families. We hope the precautions implemented nationwide have created a safe haven for your loved ones. The challenge of the abrupt shift for so many to virtual work and home schooling has no doubt created ripples in your routine, yet we all know it is for the greater good. That’s our "why."

Enormous gratitude to all the healthcare professionals that are working Herculean hours and risking their lives to keep us safe.

MUD SEASON’S EARLY ARRIVAL

As the gravity of the COVID-19 virus escalated in recent weeks and the Summit County Health Department issued orders for prevention, the response from the ski resorts and area restaurants was swift. On March 14, both Vail Resorts (Park City Mountain) and Alterra Mountain Company (Deer Valley) announced their closures, and other ski areas across the state followed during the ensuing days. Kids were ordered home for at least 2 weeks, and all restaurants went to curbside service only. Main Street had the eerie aura of a western ghost town in a matter of hours. It’s a story that has been repeated across the nation.

SOCIAL DISTANCING - PARK CITY STYLE

We are so fortunate to live in a place where so many great outdoor options exist to fulfill the “allowed exercise” in daily routines. We can choose from heading up to the Uinta Mountains for skinning, back country skiing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing. Closer to home, cycling, Nordic ski rolling, hiking, Blue Ribbon fly fishing, and early season water sports for the brave…all are right out our door.

We are still conducting business as normal, just with limited contact. We have many tools available to make this process seamless, including Facetime and 3D Matterport Virtual Tours. Our many ongoing transactions are being handled as normal thanks to technology.

When I was a boy and I would see scary things
in the news, my mother would say to me,

LET’S HELP OUR LOCALS

We all have our favorite local eateries, whether its for dining now or next time you visit town. A great way to show support for our wonderful, local restaurants and to help them get through this shortened season is to buy gift cards to inject much needed cash flow to these businesses. Diversified Bar & Restaurants, parent company to No Name Saloon/The Annex, Butchers, and Boneyard Saloon & Wine Dive, has pledged to donate 100% of gift card sales proceeds to their staff impacted by the closures.

Our community joins many across the world in a unified effort to reduce the impacts of COVID-19. The Summit County Health Department has prohibited all dine-in food service. Curbside is now the way to go to maintain property social distancing, so many of our local favorites have jumped in to participate. If your favorite eatery is not on these lists, chances are by the time you read this their business will have shifted to curbside - check their website(s) for up to date info.

WHAT’S NEXT?

As our economy fluctuates due to the uncertainty in the world markets, many questions surface relative to real estate. Here’s what we know. Real Estate has a lot more inertia than stocks, so prices tend to be more stable. We do not expect significant changes in prices in the short term.

Historically, real estate has been a solid long-term investment, particularly if you get to invest in building indelible family memories in this wonderful resort community.
Inventory remains incredibly low across the nation, and with mortgage interest rates now hovering at a 50-year low, homes will continue to be bought and sold. While there will undoubtedly be a slight pause in transactions while we all adjust to this “social distancing” paradigm, we see the likelihood of some wonderful buying opportunities in the months ahead. Having a strategy for how you want to come out on the tail end can help formulate the bridge to get there. I’d love to discuss this with you further.

“I live in Northern Italy, quite close to the very first outbreak in Europe. Following the government provisions, we cannot leave our homes and when we do (to buy some groceries), we wear surgical masks: realizing that I was not able to see other people’s faces has probably been one of the hardest moments these days. Nevertheless, all over the country, children have begun to hang banners at the windows - colorful rainbows with the writing ‘Andrà tutto bene,’ meaning ‘Everything will be fine,’ and I’m spotting a handful of them outside my terrace right now. Andrà tutto bene, I do believe that.”
