The Mighty Six
Small known fact –Australia, my country of birth has one of the strongest coffee cultures on the planet. This thanks to an influx of Italian immigrants after World War II. I’m a self-confessed coffee snob. I have to be, I get up at 5 a.m. daily, so I need solid fuel. I’m always juggling several projects at any given time, so I really enjoy meeting up for coffee when in-person get-togethers are necessary. Below are my personal favorites:
Hugo Coffee Shop
1794 Olympic Parkway, Park City 84098
This wonderful shop welcomes visitors from the big building that houses the Park City Chamber Bureau’s Kimball Junction Visitors Center. It’s a wonderful coffee alcove with a great mission that my wife Felicity, our dog Ruby, and I are partial to, which is saving dogs by roasting and selling fantastic fair-trade, organic coffee with the vision to be the go-to-coffee for animal lovers. Their slogan is “We Love Coffee and Dogs, And Not Necessarily in That Order.” It’s a great spot to learn a bit about Park City’s offerings from a nice big space with floor to ceiling windows highlighting both Utah Olympic Park’s ski jumps and Park City Mountain Resort. Bring your dog along (on leash) for a nice cup of coffee or tea. Their online shop sells and ships their coffee too.
Garden Café
Park City Nursery

This interesting little spot is part of the Park City Nursery complex off Hwy 224 in a lovely little historic building on the south end of the property. It’s best accessed traveling southbound or by making a U turn at the PC Nursery/Blue Roof Market traffic light. Park City’s newest coffee shop is actually Park City’s oldest general store, dating back to 1880. Apparently Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid hid out in the basement back in the day… great spot to hang out, great coffee
Five Seeds
1600 Snow Creek Drive, Park City, 84060
Five Seeds is my favorite breakfast and lunch café and offers a really fine brew (which the proprietors call Serious Coffee) which they’ll make extra hot if you simply ask. The owners hail from Australia (no bias here!) and have crafted a menu that screams nourishment where dishes are crafted from the best in local, seasonal product. The place has a nice sparse vibe.
Ritual Chocolate – Park City Café
1105 Iron Horse Dr, Park City, 84060
Tucked away on a quiet side street off Park Avenue and Bonanza Drive, Ritual Chocolate’s café combines two of our favorite things, coffee, and handmade local chocolate. The latter became so popular that the factory has moved on to a bigger locale in Heber. The Park City Café is a nice quiet spot with a full menu of delicious brews with just the right amount of baked goods to satisfy any palette. With Free Wi-Fi, you’ll find java lovers quietly working from this café. Their chocolates are simply superb, crafted with sustainable and ethically sourced cacao, with my favorite being ______. Try the curated monthly boxes if you’re feeling adventurous!
Harvest Park City

Perhaps I am a tad biased towards Aussie style café’s, here is another Aussie offering – I simply believe Australians have a unique appreciation for all things coffee, mate. Harvest occupies the former Rio Grande train depot that has been lovingly restored into a bright sunny respite from the hustle and bustle of Old Town, with year-round outdoor seating. I will warn you this place gets BUSY especially during ski season, but it’s worth the wait or a grab-n-go. Their menu offers breakfast and soups all day with a selection of toasts which are currently on trend.
Midway’s Fill’Er Up Coffee Station
201 East Main St, Midway. Utah 84049
It’s hard to stay away from this 1930’s renovated gas station when in Midway. The charming building includes a vintage VW bug projecting from the front overhead doors, with two antique pumps flanking a giant dinosaur the kids will love. Inside, the owners have honored the vintage theme and they even offer tiny tables for the kiddos. In warmer months, there’s plenty of outdoor seating. This spot offers a surprisingly full offering of coffee options, a drive through, mouthwatering Bees Knees ice cream….and best of all, they’re open on Sundays unlike most Midway establishments. Power up before heading to Soldier Hollow or Wasatch Mountain State Park for some adrenaline.
