Spring is here in all her temperamental glory and while we never know from day to day if we'll be wearing boots or flip flops, here are our favorite Mud Season Musts!

1 SUMMER STORAGE
Skis, Snowboards & Softgoods
Proper summer storage of your skis and snowboards will extend their life and have you set for your first day of turns next season. Experts advise that you have a summer wax treatment for your boards and store them in a cool, dry place. Most of the ski shops in town are skilled at this process. If you're going to do this yourself, clean the base of your boards with a mild detergent, dry with a soft rag and run some fine steel wool over the base and edges. Make sure they are dry and apply a thick coat of glide wax.

For your boots, make sure the liner is dried out and buckle them tight. If you use boot heaters, toss the batteries into each boot with the charger so they'll be together next season. Last but not least, clean your parkas, vests, hats, gloves and base layers per the manufacturer's instructions. Pop some SPF lip balm into every parka pocket and leave that random $20 bill in there as well, it's' always nice to start the next season with a surprise!

2 PARK ON MAIN ST - Finally!
You CAN park on Main Street this time of year....so it's a great time to visit all those great shops for end of season sales, jewelry repair and to discover new eateries you might have missed. Early Mud Season can mean free or almost-free parking and you can find a spot, at least until late June!

3 PARK CITY FOLLIES
April 26 - May 5
One of our favorite events this time of year is the Park City Follies, which is a comedic parody regarding past years' headlines, spoofed in the most humorous of ways. Always a sell out, by the time you read this it might be too late to get tickets unless you know someone who can't make it! However, it's worth setting yourself a reminder for next year by following the Egyptian Theater website or The Follies Facebook page so you know the minute tickets go on sale. It's always a HOOT!

7 MOUNTAIN BIKING
Snow bike enthusiasts can now switch to mountain biking on our dry SOUTH FACING trails, the most popular of which is the Glenwild Loop. Check MountainTrails.org
for daily updates on which trails are safe to ride. In the Heber Valley, the Coyote Trail system is dry and offers commanding views of Mt. Timpanogos. To access, turn north on Coyote Lane of Hwy 40 to the trail head parking lot. This is also a great time to hike the trails along the Provo River with your dog or enjoy blue-ribbon fly fishing. The water will be running swift this spring!

This is the best time of year to clean out your closets and garage and consider having a yard sale or donating to your favorite charity. Don't miss Recycle Utah's annual Hazardous Waste Collection opportunity on April 27 from 9 am - 1 pm, where you can get rid of paints, varnishes, solvents, motor oil, antifreeze and kinds of other yucky fluids.
